Most travel content sells the destination and leaves you to figure out the rest. We work differently. The tours below are from a single tour operator we have a direct relationship with — we have been on each of these trips, vetted the guides, and we can tell you exactly what you are signing up for.
Why book directly through us
Aggregators (TourRadar, GetYourGuide, Viator) are great for comparing options, and we link to them in many of our articles. But for the operator we work with, the direct path is better for everyone: you pay the same price, more of the money reaches the people running the trip, and we can intervene personally if something goes sideways.
Featured tours
Small-boat (16 cabins) overnight cruise in Lan Ha Bay, the quieter cousin of Halong proper. Kayaking, swimming, a private cove anchorage, and breakfast on the deck while the karsts emerge from the morning mist. Pickup from your Hanoi hotel included.
Three days through the rice terraces with a Hmong guide who grew up in the valley. Two nights with local families — proper homestay, not the polished "village experience." Moderate hiking; you should be able to walk 5 hours over uneven ground.
Bangkok essentials, then north to Chiang Mai with stops at Sukhothai's ruined temples and the lesser-known Si Satchanalai. Includes the cooking class everyone remembers and an ethical elephant sanctuary visit. Mid-range three-star accommodation throughout.
3 a.m. start — yes, really — for the sunrise hike up Mount Batur. Breakfast at the summit while the sun comes up over Lombok in the distance. Afternoon recovery in the Tegallalang rice terraces and a hot-springs visit. Long day; transformative if you can hack the early start.
Sunrise at Angkor Wat (the iconic moment) followed by Bayon, Ta Prohm (the temple-eaten-by-trees), and a guide who can tell you the difference between Khmer Hindu iconography and Khmer Buddhist iconography. Skip-the-line entry included.
How it works
Click any "Book" button above. You go directly to our partner's booking system to pay them — we are not in the payment chain. Same price you would pay if you found their site directly. We regularly receive discount codes and vouchers from our partners. If you book through us, you'll enjoy these offers when available. The partner sends a booking confirmation; we get a quiet ping on our end so we know to look out for you. If anything goes wrong on the trip, you have two contacts: theirs (operationally) and ours (advocacy).
Frequently asked
What if I need to cancel?
Standard policy: 30+ days out, full refund minus a $25 admin fee. 14–29 days out, 50% refund. Inside 14 days, no refund. Force-majeure exceptions (illness with doctor's note, family emergency) are handled case by case — and we will go to bat for you.
Are these the only tours you recommend?
No. Throughout our articles you will see affiliate links to TourRadar, Booking.com, GetYourGuide and others — those are tours we have not personally vetted but that come from operators with strong reputations. The tours on this page are the ones we have specifically been on, can vouch for, and have a direct line to the people running them.
Custom requests?
Yes. If one of these tours is close to what you want but not quite, the partner can usually customize — extending a day, adding a pickup point, swapping accommodation. Mention it in your booking notes; we'll pre-flag it from our side.
