Things to do in Bangkok

Same honesty up front: this is a 5-day Bangkok-to-Phuket trip, not a day out in the city. But it scratches the itch I keep banging on about, that Bangkok is a launchpad. You do the temple trio and the Chao Phraya express boat, then the south and the islands are right there. This stitches both ends together so you're not solo-booking the Bangkok-to-Phuket leg yourself.

At $629 (~21,000 baht) for 5 days it's pricier per day than the food-crawl run, and honestly more than I'd spend doing it raw. An overnight bus or a cheap AirAsia hop out of Don Mueang gets you south for a fraction. So I'd point this at travellers who are short on time and want Bangkok plus a beach without burning two days on logistics. If you've got time and a tight budget, the DIY version wins every time.

But for the question of temples *and* islands in one go, it's the cleanest option in this batch, and it deliberately doesn't retread the northern route the street-food crawl already covers.

Bangkok's a launchpad, and this is the one that actually gets you from the temples to the southern beaches without the solo-logistics headache.
